Who We Are

Mstar Kids is designed with your child in mind, with environments for all children age birth-5th grade. Each week, kids gather together to play games, worship, learn from Scripture and engage in small groups.

At Mstar Kids we use a curriculum-based study called The Gospel Project. This study takes kids on a Christ-centered, chronological journey through Scripture. Kids will discover how the gospel unfolds from Genesis through Revelation. When kids truly experience the gospel, their hearts are transformed. It is the gospel, not good behavior, that changes everything.  We offer environments for babies, toddlers, preschoolers, and elementary kids through 5th grade. All of our team members are fully vetted with full background checks and interviews.

Dear Families of Morning Star Fellowship:
My name is Leonard Carey and on behalf of me and my family I would like to say that it is a great honor to introduce myself to you and to say how much of an honor it is to be serving you as the Children and Family Pastor. A little background about myself, I grew up in inner city Chicago where I learned the importance of following Christ. I decided to follow Christ at 12 because I knew that he was the only way that I would make it out of my neighborhood, and survive. At age 15 I received the Holy Spirit with evidence of speaking in tongues, however, this did not make growing up in Chicago easy and I
still had to fight everyday to stay out of trouble and live.
In 2010 I made the decision to join the United States Marine Corps to help get me a future that was not promised to people in my community. I served 8 wonderful years in the Marines when I met my beautiful wife Joy and we had our first child. Now we have been married for 7 years and have 3 beautiful children with our fourth on the way.
I have been in ministry since I was 18 and have been apart of a number of different ministries, from children, to youth, to young adult, counseling, and creative arts. However, in 2016 God called me into full time ministry and I dove right in to this calling. The preparation season has not been easy but it has been enlightening and exciting.
I have my B.S. in Biblical Studies and Education, I will graduate with my Masters of Divinity in 2022. Then I will be getting my Doctorate in Biblical Studies from Liberty University.
I am excited for this opportunity and have an abundance of ideas to build upon the foundation that has already been laid. I believe that our Children need to understand their identity in Christ and that there is no such thing as a junior Holy Spirit, children receive the same Spirit of Christ that raised Jesus from the dead and walked with the disciples and all who would receive Christ as their Lord and Savior. and it will be an honor to help the children to learn about all that Christ has for them and how they can grow with Him. Once again it is an honor to serve you all and I look forward to everything that God has in store in this season.

God Bless You All from the entire Carey family.

Boys! Are you ready for some royal excitement and fun? Our new program is just the thing you've been waiting for. Royal Rangers is for boys grades K-8th grade and will meet Tuesday evenings. Boys will learn about God, have fun, and be mentored by men and women of faith. We are still in the early stages of starting this program, but we are hoping to have it running by January 2022.

Family Discipleship

God calls on parents is to play the main role in making disciples of their children. How this is accomplished varies from family to family, and can be as unique as the DNA of each home. Family discipleship isn’t easy—but it’s worth it! Our desire is to come alongside parents and help them live out their call to make disciples of their children.

We believe that no one has more influence over your child than you! Each year, we spend about 40 hours with your kids in church, but you spend 3,000 hours with your kids at home. We hope you’ll use the resources to engage your child in faith conversations at home. You can access the links below.

Every month we offer our kids take home activities to help them grow in their faith and reinforce our weekly lessons. We encourage the kids to work on these activities at home with their families and bring back the sheet at the end of the month. Kids receive credit for each square completed.

What is the bible

A bible journal is a great way to engage kids with their bible readings.  It allows to the reflect on what they read, apply it to their own lives, and consider any questions they may have.  It also serves as a fun way to look back at their growth as Christians. There are many different versions of bible journals for kids based on their abilities and levels.  For kids with a lot of artistic ability, a series of blank pages may serve them best.  Other kids may like a more structured format.  We have developed a bible journal template that allows both.

It's sometimes hard to describe what a bible is...and how we got it. This free e-book, written by Pastor Jonathan Cavalieri, is a great resource for kids and anyone else who wants to know about the mysterious and simple bible.
