Many ministries and charitable organizations succeed based on a simple premise: The world is filled with needs and also populated by many who would like to help – like to do their part – but simply don’t know what they should do, or where they would begin. We believe and we have seen, that many men, perhaps most men are actually eager to help in some way and they are often eager to do so if someone will provide specified tasks, for a specified time, for a specified purpose. Men are often willing to serve if someone will tell them how, where, and why. As men of Christ, one of the principle ways in which we learn to be more dedicated followers, is as we live out that call by doing – by placing our trust (faith) into the tangible form of action (works). As a ministry, part of our work is to find opportunities for serving which are suited to the skills, the gifts, and the resources which our men possess, and then connecting men as individuals and as teams with those specific opportunities. Once we find a need which we are uniquely qualified to fill, we break it down into manageable and achievable parts and share those parts with our men.
Service is not just a way in which we learn, it is also the test to see if we have learned. Service puts to the test our leadership (influence beneficial change) our learning (why will we do this, and how) and our commitment to abundance ( I will share what I have with those around me). Service also allows us to add our life work to that of others, and in the process partner with Christ in building and maintaining something bigger than any one of us. Service is more than a collection of random acts. It is the intentional and dedicated way in which we ARE the church in our community.
